Formed at the beginning of 1997 (originally like Hombres de Tango), Funyi Tango Trío is essentially a classical Tango acoustic instrument formation: bandoneon (Norberto Vogel), guitar (Alejo Caramés) and contrabass (Patricio Cotella). Its repertoire consists of classic tango pieces of great composers of the genre such as Troilo, Laurenz, Filiberto, Bardi, De Caro, Maffia, Gardel, among others.

These works, in soberly written arrangements, reflect a rich harmonic development and rescue the characteristic phrasing (fraseo) of Tango.

The arrangements have been conceived from a present-like sound, preserving the essential melodies and rhythm of Tango. A special comment deserves the recreations of memorable versions executed by the quartet of Aníbal Troilo and Roberto Grela, carefully transcript and adapted for trio, in a certain way to make a tribute to these two great exponents of the genre, and of its respective instruments (bandoneon and guitar). Some examples of this are: El abrojito, Taconeando, La cachila, La trampera.

Between his live performances can be mentioned the following: Ciclo Jóven Guardia del Tango 1998 (Biblioteca Nacional), the live sound track of the theater play "El Angel: Tango and Bar" (Colonial Theater), recitals in radio FM 2x4, Solo Tango TV, Salón Dorado (Casa de la Cultura), Esquina Homero Manzi, Confitería Ideal, Plaza Dorrego (San Telmo), and also in various events accompanying singers and tango dance couples.

Funyi Tango Trío has made several studio recordings for tango singers and also participated in the music score of the children theater play "La Niña y la noche”, recorded and released on CD.
