MARTIN BREEZE is an accomplished leading jazz singer and composer. He attended Adelaide University in the early 90’s and has been living, teaching and performing in Melbourne for the last ten years.
Martin has worked with a variety of bands and musicians including Joe Chindamo, Bob Sedergreen, Allan Browne, Mistaken Identity, Moody’s Brood (having just completed a national tour of Australia), Sam Keevers, Tony Gould and James Sherlock.
Martin formed his own quartet in 1998, with pianist Chris Sommervelle, bassist Nick Haywood and drummer Jamie Jones with Niko Schauble (drums) joining the quartet in late 1999. He recorded his debut CD at the ABC’s Southbank studios and the quartet regularly performs throughout Melbourne, particularly at “Bennetts Lane”.
He was recently judged Australia’s most talented up and coming male vocalist in the National Jazz Awards and is a regular guest on Channel Ten’s Good Morning Australia. Martin has performed with his ensemble at the Noumea, Manly, Brisbane, Wangaratta, Montsalvat and Melbourne International festivals. His constant searching as a musician, combined with his impressive ability to create lyrical imagery pushes his every performance to the edge.
