Ray has been playing in the Sydney blues music scene for the past seven years. During this time he has played with several well-renowned blues artists including The Foreday Riders, Bridie and the Boogie Kings, Renee Geyer, The Hippo's, Whose Muddy Shoes. He has also played with some very special American blues artists including Chris Cain, Mark Sailings, Andy Just and Dave Bowen.
Whilst in the U.S., Ray recorded with Mark Sailings and regularly played in Beale Street, Memphis winning acclaim at the BB King Bar, The Rum & Boogie and several Southern Blues Festivals.
Ray released his solo acoustic cd in 1998 at The Basement and continues to perform acoustically with The King Brothers. He has played at many blues festivals across Australia including:
· Thredbo Blues Festival (seven consecutive years)
· Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival
· Goulburn Blues Festival
· Manly Jazz Festival
· Wangaratta Blues Festival
· Federation Day Celebrations -Martin Place
· The Basement Nightclub
· The Bridge Hotel
· The Rocks "Market Place"
· Corporate Functions
Currently Ray leads his own 5 piece combo consisting of Steve Blau -Keyboards (John Leigh Calder Band), Ian Jones -Saxophone (The Hippos, Wild Rice), Chris Hudson -Double Bass (The Comets) and Roscoe Clarke -Drums (Foreday Riders, Bridie & the Boogie Kings).
Ray and his band have a strong repertoire of jump/blues and swing incorporating his own style of original jump blues with many popular swing tunes, such as:-
